Operations & Systems Engineer

Location: In person (NYC area)

Commitment: Full-time or Internship (Spring + Summer Track)

Role Overview

We are building an AI-powered operational system used inside real manufacturing environments.

We’re looking for an Operations & Systems Engineer to design and build the backend logic and data systems that power planning, validation, and operational reliability.

This role is for someone who thinks in systems — how data flows, how constraints interact, and how real-world operational complexity becomes structured software.

You will work across backend infrastructure, operational modeling, and internal tooling.

What You’ll Do

  • Designing and maintaining structured data pipelines

  • Building validation and consistency logic for operational data

  • Preparing and transforming data for planning systems

  • Creating internal tools for simulation and scenario testing

  • Debugging and analyzing system outputs under real-world conditions

  • Designing backend workflows that remain stable with imperfect or inconsistent data

What We’re Looking For

Required
  • Strong Python skills

  • Comfort working with structured data (SQL, pandas, schemas)

  • Systems thinking and logical reasoning ability

  • Ability to understand complex operational workflows

  • Ownership mindset (able to take a problem from analysis to implementation)

Nice to Have
  • Experience building backend services or internal tools

  • Familiarity with production or operational data

  • Experience designing clean data contracts

  • Exposure to performance-sensitive systems

Internship Track

We offer a structured internship track with strong ownership.

Spring (Part-Time, Remote option available)
15–20 hours per week

Focused backend and data-oriented tasks

Direct collaboration with core engineering team

Summer (Full-Time, In Person)
12 weeks

Ownership over meaningful system components

Exposure to production-grade operational logic

Strong potential for full-time conversion

Interns are evaluated on systems thinking, code clarity, and problem decomposition — not just speed.

Full-time Track

  • Ownership of core operational systems

  • Direct involvement in architectural decisions

  • Responsibility for reliability and data correctness

  • Clear path toward expanded technical responsibility as the company scales

How We Evaluate

  • Technical + product discussion

  • Time-boxed take-home focused on state management and performance

  • In-person deep dive into architecture, tradeoffs, and failure handling

We care about:

  • Performance under load

  • Robustness to imperfect data

  • Scalable state architecture

  • Production-level UX decisions

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and level of responsibility

  • Direct ownership over core operational systems

  • Close collaboration with the founding team

  • Exposure to production-grade operational software

  • Clear growth path as the company scales

For interns:

  • Paid internship with structured mentorship

  • Real system-level ownership

  • Clear opportunity for full-time conversion based on performance
